The year was 1978 when the Southern Hospitality Automotive Group opened its first location in the Hampton Roads area. Today, this massive conglomerate includes five core dealerships consisting of ten brands of automobiles, one state-of-the-art Collision Center, and over 600 employees on its payroll. The five dealerships are comprised of Greenbrier Chrysler-Jeep in Chesapeake; Lynnhaven Lincoln-Mercury and Lynnhaven Kia in Virginia Beach; one of the largest Volkswagen marketplaces in America, Greenbrier Volkswagen; Greenbrier Pontiac-GMC and Greenbrier Kia in Chesapeake; Tysons Dodge-Jeep at Tysons Corner in Vienna, VA; and Greenbrier Collision Center in Chesapeake, Virginia.
A volume leader in the automotive field, the Southern Hospitality Automotive Group was the number one retailer of new and used vehicles in South Hampton Roads in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The Southern Hospitality Automotive Group has remained focused on sharing its wealth with the community on an annual basis. Each year, every employee corporate-wide contributes to the United Way organization. And for the past several years the company has provided the American Cancer society with a new vehicle to raffle off during the organization's Relay for Life fundraising event. The Southern Hospitality Automotive Group also provides a great deal of support to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Chrysler Museum, Tidewater Builders Association, CHKD, Tidewater Striders, Neptune Festival, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University just to name a few of the organizations that have benefited from the company and its employees' generosity.
